Are You Ready for Some Football?
Football season has officially kicked off and we have our own football player in the house this year. This is Jonah's first year in the White Bear Youth Football League. He is a member of the Gamblers, which I'm proud to say are 3-0 after tonight. Check out those helmets. Jonah had 3 tackles tonight and is improving every week. Nice work Jo!

Move In Day
Got moved in this weekend and finished the cleanup for the year. We're really happy with how it turned out. The only job left inside is tiling the fireplace and I'll probably make another trip up this fall and do that. Next year it's a rain catching gravity fed water system and bathhouse. I've got all winter to finalize my plans.

Whipped
Nora at 11pm on Sunday night while I was putting the last coat of polyurethane on the floor. This is what we all feel like after 2 summers of this. It has been a definite learning experience and I would gladly do it again. The family time has been the biggest reward and the nice side effect is we now have a cabin of our own.

Worn Out but Finally Made It!
We gave it one more big 4 day push this weekend and I can finally say we are done...for now. We are ready for the official move-in once the poly on the floors dries. Got a lot accomplished including: finished the v-groove on the ceilings, wired in the ceiling fan, put in the floor, finished the floor, put leftover v-groove on the ceiling of the shed, tore off old roofing nails and stapled up tar paper on the shed, finished the facsia on the cabin AND cleaned up the mess outside. Whew! As always I couldn't have dont it without help from my dad. Thanks again Pops!

Forgot my camera
Forgot my camera this weekend but I did manage to take a picture of the hearth we started work on with my cellphone. It took 3 bags of quickcrete and I had 3 bags left from the foundation posts. I love it when things come together. Also finished the chinking on the last wall. Took 6 days to chink 8 walls all told. Nice to be done with that. Taking a weekend off and then going to start in on the ceiling.

Work Continues
Starting to doubt if I'm going to be able to enjoy this cabin at all this summmer! The work never ends. We managed to get the porch ceiling on and 3 out of 4 interior walls chinked. Also moved in a shed that I bought from a few miles away. Should be nice to have some storage after we get it leveled and a floor under it. Next week we start in on the interior ceilings and finsh the chinking.

Bonus Post
We have lights
Got the electricity hooked up to the main pole the first friday we were up and now have some lights! Thanks again Denny! I took a lot of crap because I kept turning them on and off to see if they were still working. That's alright though. First electrical I've ever done and everything worked the first time. We also got screens made for the windows and a slide screen for the main door. Made it possible to sleep in it for the first time. Got the chinking done on the outside and got the insulation up on the inside. Took 3 buckets of chinking on the outside. Will have to buy 2 more for the inside. Also managed to get to Pine River, MN and buy some tongue and groove Basswood for the ceilings from a local lumberyard. Got some Popple, which is a type of Aspen, for the floors. Last but not least I found the motherload of dumped field stones for doing the fireplace base and surround. Got some big ones to stack around the foundation and keep the bigger animals out. Think we had a lynx or bobcat living under there last winter.
